Summary on upcoming Update

Alright, since many people are kinda confused about what is going to change and when I decided to chew down all information for you and post it here (I like chewing on random stuff ever since I lost my [Chew Toy])

TO BE READ FIRST

- First and the topic I've seen confuses most people: -> PATCH DATE HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED YET <- April 13th will be the day on whice On Alert will be implemented.
- So yeah, apparently coming out April 13th.

On Alert

-Speaking of which, On Alert consists on a special type of Open Mission. Much like Takofane in Bloodmoon Event, at random hours you may get a message (ALERT). This message will be displayed on an Icon next to your Minimap, and once you click it you will be queued for the instance and teamed up with 4 random people (much like Hero Games). Currently there are 3 types of ALERTs announced: GRAB, SMASH and BURST. GRAB consists of avoiding a heist/rescuing hostage situation, SMASH consists of a Super Villain doing something on a timer and you need to beat him before time runs out, and BURST consists on an event, like nuclear transport accident or meteorite falling, that increases the strength of mobs in the area and you need to fix the problem.

Major Patch

Change to Superstats

-To begin with, characters will no longer have 2 major Superstats, but 1 Major superstat and 2 Minor. Increasing Major stats will obviously have a more notorious effect on your char than Minor. ATs will be having the following Superstats defaulted:
Silver ATs:
Soldier: Dex, Ego/Rec
Marksman: Dex, Int/Ego
Inferno: Rec, End/Ego
Behemoth: Con, Str/Rec
Blade: Dex, Str/Rec
Grimoire: Int, Ego/Pre
Mind: Pre, End/Ego
Glacier: Con, End/Ego
Unleashed: Dex, Rec/Str

Premium ATs
Tempest: End, Ego/Rec
Void: End, Con/Ego
Impulse: End, Ego/Int
Specialist: Dex, Rec/Ego
Savage: Str, Con/Rec
Devastator: Str, Rec/Con
Fist: Dex, Str/Rec
Master: Con, Dex/Str
Disciple: Ego, Rec/Dex
Mountain: Con, Ego/End
Scourge/Cursed: Rec, Con/Ego
Inventor: Int, Pre/Ego
Squall: Ego, Rec/End

-Second important topic, there will be some changes to some Stats, namely:

-Strength will no longer have a hard cap of +20% Melee Damage, but a soft cap pretty much like DEX, CON and other stats. This means that now putting extra points in STR will have a notable change, but putting too much will not.
-Presence now is no longer related to threat generation, and a soft cap to healing bonus has been implemented. Furthermore, Presence will now affect resistance to Crowd Control effects.
-Ego is no longer related to Crit Chance and Severity. It will now pretty much work for Ranged Attacks as STR works for Melee Attacks, meaning higher EGO more Ranged Damage. Also it will provide greater Resistance to Holds.
-Dexterity now will no longer provide Critical Severity, but will have increased Critical Chance.

Specialization System

-Specialization will be new type of passive skills related to your Primary Superstat. This skills will change the way your Secondary Superstats work, the way items affect you, the damage you do with certain types of attacks, or the resistance to certain Status/Elements. You unlock your first specialization at level 10, and get 1 point every level from there on. At level 20 and 30 you will unlock new specialization trees, reaching Mastery level at 40.

-An example for this provided by CO was the Constitution Specialization, innate to Behemoths. Starting level 10, you can set points to passives that will make items grant you more defense, Secondary Stats granting you more Health, or Dex increasing your Dodge Chance. At level 20 you unlock Protector Tree, which for example has an specialization that increases the amount of healing you receive. At level 30 you unlock Warden Tree, which has an specialization that gives you Offense the more Defense you have. And finally at level 40 you can choose between Constitution, Protector or Brawler Mastery which will greatly enhance the benefits you get from certain stats.

-Freeform characters can choose any of the 11 trees once they reach level 20. Following is a list of available trees:
Protector – The core Tank tree
Example Skill – Beacon of Hope: Increases healing received from others.
Brawler – The core Melee Damage tree
Example Skill – No Escape: Your Energy Builder has a chance (increasing per rank of this skill) to Daze your target for 4s if they are within 10 feet of you. Dazed characters move slower.
Avenger – The core Ranged Damage tree
Example Skill – Surprise Attack: Your Single Target attacks now have additional Critical Chance on targets above 90% Health.
Sentinel – The core Support tree
Example Skill – Sentinel Aura: You and your Teammates regain a percentage of their Max Health every 3 seconds.
Warden – Melee Damage/Tank tree
Example Skill – The Best Defense: Your Defense stat now also grants you some Offense stat.
Guardian – Ranged Damage/Tank tree
Example Skill – Make It Count: Increases the damage and decreases the cost of your Blast attacks.
Sentry – Support/Tank tree
Example Skill – Persevere: Single Target attacks made against you have a chance to heal you and your nearby teammates for a portion of the damage dealt.
Vindicator – Damage tree, suitable for Ranged and Melee damage
Example Skill – Merciless: Increases your Critical Severity.
Arbiter – Melee Damage/Support tree
Example Skill – Enforcer: The strength of your Combo Attacks, Heals, and Shields is increased.
Overseer – Ranged Damage/Support tree
Example Skill – Impact: Whenever you Critically Strike an enemy, you reduce the damage they deal.
Commander – Pet tree
Example Skill – Multitasker: Reduces the Energy Penalty incurred from having Pets out.

Items and Crafting

-You will no longer be able to equip 2 Secondary Upgrades, only 1.

-Crafting R&D system will be completely removed. This means you will no longer be able to craft Travel Powers like Storm Rider or R.A.D Sphere. This items will now be able as CS items and will unlock them as regular Travel Powers like Superspeed or Flight. People who are in possession of this devices will get a free unlock version on their accounts. Components from the old Crafting System will be able to be converted to the New MOD system.

-Upgrades will get a complete overhaul. All upgrades will now get a better type pairing (for example Str-Con-Dex, instead of Str-Int-Ego) and a slight increase in stats. This does not apply to Upgrades already on your possession, only the ones dropped after patch is LIVE.

-Upgrades now will possess between 1-3 MOD slots depending on their rarity. You can place modifications on this slots that will enhance the Upgrade.

-Mods are divided into 3 categories: Armoring, Enhancement and Core. Armoring and Enhancement will increase basic stats like Str, Con, Melee Defense, etc. Core mods will provide different benefits depending on which upgrade they are slotted (Offense, Defense, Utility). For example Gamblers Lucky Gem mod provides Critical Chance in Offense, Dodge Chance in Defense and Energy Discount in utility.

-Mods will also have a rank from 1 to 9. The higher the rank the greater the benefit they provide. You can combine 5 same ranked Mods to increase its rank. Each fusion has a %chance of success, with higher rank ones having lower %chance.

-Catalysts can be used to increase %chance, bypass the 5 mods requirement, or attempt to max rank a mod.

-Arms, Science and Mysticism now will affect what type of Mods/Catalysts you can research and get from field items. Following is a chart showing which Mods you can get from each Proficiency.




-Mod reasearch works in the same way as Crafting research: Mods are separated into tiers, to get to next tier you need to max previous one and have level requirement and so on.

-You can improve the chance of getting rare Mods/Catalysts by getting certain Buffs from On Alert missions.

Recognition

- Doing regular missions, open missions, or simply by killing mobs will now net you Recognition tokens. Unlike Acclaim/Unity/Until/etc. this tokens are actually an item and are tradeable.

-There are 4 tiers of Recognition items:1-10,11-20,21-30,31-40.

- Recognition can be used at certain NPCs to buy Costum Unlocks, Travel Powers and Upgrade items/Devices.

- You can trade in higher tier Recognition for lower one at certain NPCs at a 1:1 rate.

Miscellaneous

- Questionite will now be rewarded from missions/daily quests/other activities and play the role of currency for purchasing items at Questionite Store or be traded for CP.

- Mobs starting level 12 will get innate resistances, and mobs ranking above Henchmen will get an increase on HP and stats.

- A free Retcon will be given to all players once major patch comes out. Whether is per character or per account it has not been confirmed.

This might actually help my Blade character... But absolutely nothing else. Oddness shall ensue when people work with the new system... I think.

Just sucks that I wasted my retcon token before this happens. Augh. I just got my stats the way I liked them and everything...

My old claw Dex/Ego build broke down in ruin thanks to that update, lucky that the loss mostly on the Ulity tree of mine :3.
